Terms of Service

DebtFreedom estimates the date you could be debt-free based on the numbers you enter, and shows how changes could move that date. The date is a guide, not a guarantee: it is an estimate only, based entirely on the accuracy of what you enter and your lenders' actual terms, which may differ.

We are not a lender, we don't sell loans, and nothing in the tool is an offer or invitation to apply for credit. We do not provide financial, legal, tax or credit advice, and we are not financial counsellors. DebtFreedom gives general information worked out from your own inputs; it does not take your personal circumstances into account. Consider whether it is right for you, and seek independent advice before making financial decisions.

You must be at least 18 years old and ordinarily resident in Australia. Use DebtFreedomonly for your own personal use, lawfully, and don't attempt to interfere with, disrupt, scrape or misuse the service.

If — and only if — you ask us to and give your explicit consent, we will pass your name, contact details and a short debt summary to a debt management provider we work with so they can contact you about debt management. You are never obliged to accept a referral, and free help is always presented first.

How we're paid, and our conflict of interest. DebtFreedom receives a fee of $50 from that provider for each application submitted, whether or not it proceeds. Because we are paid this way, we have a financial interest in you being referred — so please consider the free National Debt Helpline first. We are a referrer only: we do not assess your suitability, give debt advice, or arrange or administer any debt agreement. The provider is responsible for the services it provides to you, on its own terms.

A formal debt management arrangement can have serious and lasting consequences — it may be an act of bankruptcy, be recorded on the National Personal Insolvency Index, affect your credit for years, and involve fees. It is not right for everyone. Outcomes are not guaranteed and depend on your creditors.

The debts you enter stay on your device. What we collect, how we store it, overseas disclosure and your rights are set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Enter honest, accurate figures — the estimate is only as good as its inputs. You are responsible for the decisions you make. Keep your device secure, since your debt information is stored there.

The service is provided free and “as is”. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and may update these terms; the “last updated” date above will change when we do, and your continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree to a change, stop using the service and you may delete your information at any time.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the extent the law allows, and except for those guarantees, our liability in connection with the service is limited to re-supplying it, and we are not liable for decisions you make based on the estimates it shows. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury, fraud, or reckless conduct.
